About this role
HRAS work closely with business areas to understand the diverse business needs and deliver high‑quality, on‑the‑ground HR support. The team provides tactical and operational advice across HR, employee and industrial relations, work health and safety, rehabilitation, recruitment and myHR services. As a key connector between divisions and the HR Branch, the team offers contemporary, customer‑focused guidance on people management practices, helping leaders build capability, navigate complex issues and achieve strong workforce outcomes across the department.
About the role:
As a Senior HR Business Partner, you will collaborate with leaders and key stakeholders across designated client portfolios to ensure the timely and effective delivery of compliant HR advice and support. The role of a Senior HR Business Partner is pivotal in managing the expectations of stakeholders and promoting ethical and informed decision making across all aspects of HR, including performance and case management, interpretation of policy and awards, and day-to-day people management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build collaborative strategic relationships with client portfolio leaders and their teams by developing a deep understanding of their business and through the provision of contemporary human resources and consultancy services to ensure delivery of best practice people strategies and solutions and the achievement of business objectives.
- Operate as a strategic partner to deliver technical and strategic human resources advice and recommendations across a broad range of areas such as workforce planning, performance management, complex issue resolution and HR programs and policy.
- Conduct preliminary internal enquiries in relation to workplace issues such as performance management and grievance resolution and provide timely advice and support to managers on proposed resolution strategies and processes.
- Research and interpret workforce issues providing HR advice and recommendations to leaders on key workforce challenges within a complex employment framework, which support achievement of both the client's and organisation's objectives.
- Use workforce data, analysis, problem solving and evaluation skills to inform risk identification and decision making and to develop and implement innovative service delivery solutions that support the achievement of business outcomes.

Your high‑level written communication skills enable you to produce clear reports, presentations and advice, supported by your ability to interpret data, legislation and policy. You're solutions‑focused, self‑directed and able to manage competing deadlines while applying your well‑developed knowledge of HR management, employment legislation, awards and agreements to resolve workforce issues effectively.
