About this role
About the work unit / facility
The TPHU is a multidisciplinary team consisting of a public health physician, public health nurses, environmental health officers, an epidemiologist, entomologists, operational officers, and administration officers.
TPHU works collaboratively with, and supports, a range of organisations including other health services, other government departments, local government, non-government agencies, research institutions and local communities.
TPHU fulfils the public health regulatory services on behalf of the Department of Health to ensure sound public health standards are maintained in communities.

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $4083.10 to $4350.70 p.f. (TO4)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
About your opportunity
This position will have a major focus undertaking compliance and enforcement activities under the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998.
Requirements:
Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration
- While not mandatory, a relevant qualification in regulation, policing or environmental health would be well regarded.
- The position holder will be required to have or be willing to complete a Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
- The position holder will be required to complete training and meet competencies required of Authorised Officers under public health legislation.
- Significant travel may be required due to the geographical scope of the position, including stays of up to two weeks in remote Indigenous communities. This may include travel in light aircraft or boat. A corporate vehicle is available on a booking on priority needs basis and a C class licence is required.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
